The Nexus of Climate Change & Healthcare
15 February 2024
Climate change is not just an environmental issue; it is a health crisis. The impacts of climate change are complex and multifaceted, with direct impacts including heat-related illnesses, air pollution, vector-borne diseases, food and water insecurity and healthcare infrastructure challenges. Climate change also indirectly impacts health systems by exacerbating existing health disparities and straining social determinants of health. Urgent response is needed to build resilience, promote climate-smart healthcare, invest in climate adaptation, enhance public health surveillance and promote climate-health partnerships.
In this Open Mic, thought leaders across a wide range of fields globally come together to discuss the nexus of climate change and health, along with what comes next.
